This course is aimed at anyone who is interested in basic tailoring skills and techniques. Pattern cutting is an exciting and rewarding craft, if basic rules are learnt thoroughly. Pattern cutting for tailored garments are based on sound principle, students must learn these thoroughly so that when these, rules are broken there is a clear creative decision allied to sound reasoning.
The lessons will be organised around the requirements of the applicants to the course. The course will begin with a study of the human figure and how to measure the body accurately. Using direct body measurements individual basic block patterns will be drafted from your patterns and draft garment will be manufactured and assessed for a good fit.
If required, changes to the pattern will be made, students would then move onto designing a garment to be tailor made.
The stages from design concept, to a complete garment will enhance pattern cutting knowledge along with manufacturing skills.
